RenlyBot — the Renly web robot

RenlyBot reads public pages of websites that Renly customers have added to their AI assistant’s Knowledge Base. If your website blocks it, this page explains how to recognise it and how to let it in.

01What RenlyBot is

RenlyBot is the web robot of the Renly platform, operated by Good Friends s. r. o. It downloads only public pages and files (PDF, DOCX) of a website that a Renly customer has added as a knowledge source for their AI assistant.

It never signs in, never submits forms and never circumvents a website’s protection.

It adapts its pace to the website’s responses. When the website turns it away (status 429, or 503 with a Retry-After header), it waits and fetches further pages more slowly.

02How to recognise RenlyBot

The User-Agent header of every request it makes contains the name RenlyBot. Requests come from the IP addresses listed below.

Anyone can set the name in a User-Agent header. We therefore recommend basing the exception on the IP address, ideally on the IP address and the name together.

03How to allow access

If your website is protected by a bot protection service or a firewall, add an exception for RenlyBot. Menu names may differ depending on the version of the service.

Vercel

In your project’s Firewall settings, add a Custom Rule. As the condition, choose RenlyBot’s IP address, optionally together with a User-Agent containing “RenlyBot”, and set the action to Bypass.

Cloudflare

Under Security → WAF, add a custom rule with the same condition and the Skip action, which skips bot checks and challenges.

On the free plan, Bot Fight Mode is not bypassed by custom rules. In that case, allow RenlyBot’s IP addresses under Security → WAF → Tools → IP Access Rules with the Allow action.

Standard hosting or firewall

Allow the IP addresses listed above. This also applies if your website blocks visits from certain countries.
